MBTI Insight Session
Finding Yourself Beyond Trauma
Most personality tests assume you already know who you are.
But what if you’ve spent years:
Shape-shifting to stay safe?
Saying “yes” when you meant “no”?
Playing the caretaker because that’s how you survived childhood?
If trauma or codependent patterns have shaped your results, it’s easy to get mistyped. Your MBTI® type might reflect adaptation — not your true Self.
If that resonates, this private-pay session is made for you.
What Happens in an MBTI Insight Session
Together, we’ll explore:
Which parts of your type reflect survival strategies vs. your authentic self
How trauma may have skewed your results — and ways to untangle that
How to use your type not as a label, but as a tool for reclaiming your voice, power, and boundaries
This isn’t a “let me read your results back to you” session. It’s a trauma-informed, soul-aware deep dive into your personality’s core — your defenses, your wiring, and your potential.
What You’ll Need:
Your official MBTI® results from MBTIonline® (~$59.95)
A willingness to explore how personality, pain, and power intersect
What You’ll Receive:
Personalized guidance from a trauma-trained therapist
A safe, compassionate space to reflect on your inner dynamics
Insight that bridges your type with your healing journey
Note: This is a guided self-exploration, not a clinical assessment. It’s private-pay only and cannot be billed to insurance.
Session Fee: $145 (Assessment fee paid separately)
Beyond the Four Letters: Jung and Cognitive Functions
The MBTI® is rooted in Carl Jung’s theory of psychological types. Jung believed that we all carry different ways of perceiving and making decisions — what MBTI calls cognitive functions.
These aren’t just “traits.” They’re inner patterns of attention and energy. Some are conscious and easy to access. Others stay in the background or unconscious. And often, what we repress or underuse ends up looking a lot like the shadow in Jungian psychology.
For example:
A natural feeler raised in a family that dismissed feelings may have pushed that function into the shadow.
A natural intuitive raised in a “facts only” environment may have overused sensing while intuition hid away.
This is where MBTI and the parts work I do begin to overlap. Cognitive functions can show us the “voices” inside: some that feel like home, and others that were distorted by trauma or banished to the unconscious.
How This Links to Parts and Shadow Work
When we explore your MBTI® type together, we’re not just saying, “You’re an INFJ” or “You’re an ESTP.” We’re looking at:
Which functions feel like the authentic you
Which ones have been buried, exiled, or distorted by survival strategies
How your type interacts with the protective “parts” that formed in response to trauma
In other words, MBTI gives us a map, and parts/shadow work gives us a path. Together, they help you recognize:
What belongs to your true Self
What was adapted for survival
How to integrate the shadow functions or hidden parts so they no longer sabotage you
This is about learning to see yourself clearly — not just who you had to be, but who you actually are.
Why This Matters
Understanding your MBTI® type can give you a new lens into how you think, communicate, and protect yourself. Many people discover that their reported type reflects not who they are — but who they had to become.
This session invites you to:
Recognize where codependent or trauma-driven strategies show up in your type
Reconnect with parts of yourself that were pushed aside
Discover language that feels affirming, freeing, and transformational
Is This Right for You?
This work isn’t about labels — it’s about clarity. If you’ve ever said:
“I don’t recognize what the test says about me.”
“My personality type feels off — but I don’t know why.”
“I want to reclaim who I am beyond trauma.”
…then this exploration may help you find your way home.
